Conduct and Behaviour
Our competition is about playing the sport we all love with our mates. Many players bring their families and children to games, and our commitment to community values and a child-safe environment is fundamental to everything we do at Westgate.
Please ensure your teams are aware of the following:
• All games are governed by the Westgate Basketball Association by-laws. Any breach may result in suspension from all basketball competitions, as per Basketball Victoria Tribunal By-Laws.
• Westgate also reserves the right to remove individual players or teams for behaviour that does not align with our community values or child-safe standards. This includes behaviour that is disrespectful, aggressive, or not in the spirit of the competition.
• The use of offensive language or abusive behaviour towards referees, players, spectators, or officials will result in immediate removal from the competition and is likely to be referred to the regional tribunal.
• We are proud of the strong community values that underpin this competition and will continue to prioritise teams who contribute positively to this environment.
We have a limited number of courts and a strong waitlist for this competition. We will continue to prioritise and reward players and teams who demonstrate great sportsmanship, respect, and a commitment to community basketball.
There are always teams who may need a player, if not, we have a waiting list, so if we get 7 players or more on the list, we'll create a new team.
