Westgate’s mission is to provide vibrant, enjoyable and well organised basketball that is inclusive and accessible to communities in the Inner West.
Westgate Basketball is a relatively new, not-for-profit association being only 10 years old, managed and operated entirely by volunteers.
Our association catchment in the Inner West suburbs of Melbourne includes some of the most disadvantaged communities in Australia. With increased costs associated with venue hire, paid referees and travel, many families are being priced out of having their kids play hoops.
Our competitions and programs provide players with pathways for progression consistent with their skill level and aspirations, including the ability to compete for the Imperials at a state representative level.
The Westgate Basketball Association is currently proud to have over 3000 members, in our under 10s through to senior competitions and programs such as Aussie Hoops. Westgate is supported by nearly 1,000 Inner West families and over 200 volunteer coaches and administrators who contribute to one of the fasted growing basketball associations in Victoria.
We are a family friendly not-for-profit volunteer run basketball association set up:
Westgate Basketball Association is an affiliated basketball association with Basketball Victoria. The Association is governed by the rules and the policies of Basketball Victoria together with our By-laws located under Competition details.
We sincerely thank all those involved in running Westgate Basketball Association past and present. The commitment and effort has been immense and what has been achieved in such a short amount of time is truly remarkable.
Insurance cover via Basketball Victoria is valid to 1st September 2021.
