Westgate Imperials issue management process

At Westgate Basketball, we are committed to maintaining a positive and supportive environment for all our players, coaches, and parents. 


To ensure any concerns are addressed promptly and fairly, we have established a clear Issue Management Procedure.


Issue Management Procedure

If you encounter any issues regarding the team, coach, playing time, or similar concerns, please follow the outlined process below:

1. Code of Conduct (Non Integrity)

Examples include:

  • Questions about court time or training methods
  • Conflicts or disagreements between players, coaches, or parents


Steps to Resolve Non-Integrity Issues:

  1. Speak to the Team Manager:  to arrange a time to meet with the coach/es and provide a brief summary of issue
  2. Discussion with Coach: The Team Manager will arrange a discussion with the coach, which will not take place on game day.
  3. Informal Resolution: Attempt to resolve the issue informally with the Team Manager and Coach/es.
  4. Log the Issue: The Team Manager will advise the Operations Manager of the issue.
  5. Mediation (if unresolved): If the issue remains unresolved, mediation will be undertaken with the coaching leadership and the Westgate Imperials Sub Committee.

1. Integrity

Examples include:

  • Abuse, harassment, bullying, intimidation, unlawful discrimination, victimization, vilification
  • Sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment and offenses)
  • Child abuse and child safety practices
  • Competition manipulation and sports wagering
  • Improper use of drugs and medicine


Steps to Resolve Integrity Issues:

  1. Approach the Welfare Officer: For information about the complaints process, complete the online form or directly contact the Welfare Officer by emailing imperials@westgatebasketball.com.au if there are concerns that completing the form will impact the player.
  2. Assessment of Complaint: The Welfare Officer will assess the initial information provided about the complaint.
  3. Support and Referral: The Welfare Officer will provide information about support services and either refer the complaint to the relevant external body for investigation and resolution, such as the Member Protection Tribunal or the Police.
