Aussie Hoops is the Basketball Australia's Official Junior Game Development Program for 5-10 year olds and their families & now sponsored by Ford Australia.
Aussie Hoops provides an environment where children of all abilities can achieve on the court and reap the rewards of skill development, enhanced self-esteem, social co-operation and grassroots sports participation. The program provides boys and girls with a fun and safe Basketball experience that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game.
The Aussie Hoops program at Westgate is a fun and engaging way for kids to learn the skills and rules of basketball, allowing them to confidently move into playing in our junior Domestic competition

NEW AUSSIE HOOPS VENUE: NOTE, We have an additional venue to use on Saturdays 8:30am (5 to 7yrs) & 9:15am (7 to 10 yrs) at Westgate Sports & Leisure Centre, 3 Street Center in Corner Dohertys Rd & Grieves Parade, North Altona.
PLEASE DON'T ATTEND TRAINING SESSIONS IF YOUR CHILD IS UNWELL! we do offer make up classes on other days.
Age groups
5 to 7 year old sessions
These sessions are developed as an introductory program that ensures all participants develop the fundamental skills to participate in and draw satisfaction from Basketball.
7 to 10 year old sessions
These sessions are for 7 year olds who already have basic skills or for 8 to 10 year olds who are just starting. More game type drills will be introduced in getting this age ready to sign up to play in a team.
NOTE: we do accept 11 & 12 year old participants who do not yet play in a team.
